Open to Board

Connect Housing is governed by a Board, who set our direction and goals and make sure we put our commitments into action. In September, they spent a day meeting residents in their homes and visiting our first new development in a couple of years.

At Yew Tree Court and Spruce Walk, board members saw recent upgrades and improvements first hand, speaking to residents about new bathrooms, air source heat pumps and solar panels. They also discussed staff service and the general experience of being a Connect resident.

The board oversees Connect’s performance and are very keen to hear from customers directly, so the tour gave them the opportunity to see if we’re fulfilling our commitments as a landlord. Residents were able to freely share their thoughts and opinions, and it was all very positive!

The staff…clearly cared about the quality of what was being delivered, especially in making communal areas more dementia-friendly and accommodating for the visually impaired. -Board member

The final stop on the tour was at our Forest Cottage site, Lily Close, which has since been completed in January 2025. The development features a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes, including two wheelchair-accessible bungalows and an additional on-site community centre, currently serving as a site office. The Community and Tenant Involvement team plans to use the space to invite the new neighbours to get to know each other. The Board were impressed, stating,

The new houses are superb. Great room sizes, a committed crew, and the disabled bungalows will be fantastic with the necessary adaptations.
