Safeguarding – keep adults and children safe
Everyone should be able to live free from harm, abuse, or neglect and at Connect we are fully committed to our responsibilities for safeguarding children and adults.
If you are concerned, in any way, about the welfare of a family member, neighbour, or anyone else please let us know.
If something just doesn’t feel right, and you’re concerned that someone may be at risk of harm from themselves or others, please let us know so that we can take steps to make sure they are protected. We work closely with local authority safeguarding teams who have specific responsibilities for the protection of vulnerable adults and children.
To let us know about a safeguarding concern, fill out our contact form. Make sure you put the subject as ‘safeguarding’.
Important: if you or someone you know is in immediate danger, phone the police on 999.
If you are worried about someone, you can get in touch with your Local Authority Safeguarding Team directly. Information can be found via your Local Authority website.
We will:
Act immediately – the safety of adults and children at risk is paramount. If there is an immediate risk of danger or harm call the relevant emergency services on 999.
Reassure – the person who reports their concern and explain any action we take to keep a person safe including times when we may have a duty to report concerns to statutory services.
Record – make notes of what we are told or see including recording dates/times, details of all involved including any witnesses.
Report to a manager – report the matter immediately to a manager so that next steps are agreed.
Agree action – the manager will decide what action is appropriate to safeguard someone. It will be dependent on the circumstances, and they will provide guidance and support to staff, including what to do next to keep someone safe. This may include a referral to the relevant Local Authority Child Protection or Safeguarding Adults team.
