Improvement means refining or incorporating a fixture or fitting. If you want to make any improvements you must get our written permission before you proceed.

Just call 0300 5000 600 to let us know. Improvements include although not limited to:

– A shower or new bathroom suite,
– Kitchen units,
– Heating appliances,
– Loft or Cavity wall insulation,
– Double-glazing or other external window replacement or secondary glazing, &
– Rewiring or the provision of power and lighting or other electrical fittings (including smoke detectors).

Compensation for Improvements

If you make improvements to the property and then leave – you may have the right to compensation.

Unfortunately – compensation for improvements is not automatic and depends upon the situation. Please note – the application for and payment of compensation can only be made upon the end of the tenancy and must be made with in 14 days of the tenancy end date. This does not apply if the tenancy is terminated as a result of a court granting the Association possession or if you buy the property under the Right to Buy scheme.
