What to expect at your annual gas service
If you have a gas boiler or fire, we’ll come to service it every year.
In this blog, Customer Safety Officer Rebecca Rose explains why it’s important and what you can expect!
Did you know that annual gas servicing is not just a routine check, but a legal requirement for all landlords? We service
approximately 2800 properties each year to ensure that everything is working properly and that there are no faults, leaks, or carbon monoxide risks that could lead to serious illness—or worse.
What can I expect for my service?
We employ Gas Safe engineers to come and do the service on our behalf. Two months before you’re due a service, we’ll write to you to make an appointment so they can come round to your home and complete the work.
The service should take no more than an hour. If, during the service, any appliance is found to be unsafe, it’ll be disconnected immediately, and we will take care of any repairs or replacements.
What’s covered?
This service includes all gas appliances that we’ve provided to you. However, if you have any additional gas appliances that aren’t owned by Connect, it’s your responsibility to have them serviced separately.
Stay alert
Even with an annual gas service, it’s still important to be cautious. If you smell gas in your home, please report it to Northern Gas Network’s 24-hour number 0800 111 999. You should also call this number – as well as an ambulance – if you think you may have carbon monoxide poisioning. For more info, visit our guide to Carbon Monoxide safety.
