Community Matters 2025

Community Matters Day has become an annual tradition for Connect, with residents enjoying a sunny day out in Banstead Park, to celebrate community, culture and connection.

Attendees were able to enjoy a day of interactive fun, with bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle courses and plenty of arts and crafts. There were also special performances of bhangra, and a DJ throughout.

The event was organised by Connect, Places for People and Unity Homes, who were all on site offering practical advice, support and information.

This year, warm food was provided by community-based organisation, Heritage Cooking Company, whose objective is to ‘fight hunger, promote equity of opportunity and foster thriving cohesive communities.’

At Connect’s stall, staff from across the organisation were available to chat, including from our money advice service, Money Matters. While the adults learned about the services available to them, the kids were able to decorate tote bags and plant pots with their very own sunflower seeds inside.

Community Co-ordinator Hannah Faulkner said:

It was great to be out and about with the community. We wanted to work together with partners because we recognise housing association’s have a big footprint in the area, but don’t often do much joint working at the benefit of the community. We wanted to put on an event that would bring people together and display the services that we and other organisations can provide.

We look forward to next year!
