The Executive Team supports the Board to lead the strategic direction of Connect and, via a model of distributed leadership, oversees the operational management of the Association through the ten senior managers who form the management group. As value-driven individuals they are committed to delivering Connect’s strong social purpose via inspiring a learning and performance culture for all employees.



Helen Lennon  BA Hons, MCIH, MBA
Chief Executive

Helen is a passionate advocate of social housing as a tenure of choice and as a foundation to a healthy life. She has built a successful career in pursuit of this passion. Prior to joining Connect, she worked with homeless people at Leeds City Council and in various voluntary organisations. Helen joined The Ridings in the 1990s and, through a number of roles in housing management, asset management and supported housing, helped to build the association into the stable and successful organisation which is now Connect. In August 2016, Helen was appointed as the CEO and has since been leading a process of business transformation to ensure that Connect continues to be successful in a constantly changing operating environment. Helen also chairs Leeds City Region H.A Partnership and Ongo Communities.


Martyn Broadest BSc (Hons), CIHCM
Director of Home

Prior to joining the Ridings in 2002, Martyn worked for Leeds City Council initially as an Environmental Health Officer, and then latterly in a range of senior housing and regeneration roles. Current responsibilities at Connect include Maintenance, Asset Management, Procurement, Development (plus new business, partnerships and regeneration work – in conjunction with other colleagues), Customer Services and the Thrive Community Space and Café.


Sean Flynn BA (Hons), ACMA
Director of Finance & Resources

Sean has previously worked in a number of accounting roles and sectors (including health, IT and retail) prior to joining The Ridings as Assistant Finance Manager. Following a number of subsequent roles he was appointed as Finance Director in 2002 and was instrumental in the successful merger of The Ridings and West Yorkshire Housing Association in 2006 to form Connect Housing. Sean’s current role as Director of Finance & Resources includes responsibility for Information Services and Business Assurance in addition to Finance.


Christine Fox BA (Hons)
Director of Neighbourly Places

After leaving Hull University in 1983, Christine spent a number of years working for small voluntary sector supported housing providers in Liverpool and Bradford. In 1987 she started working for a large London based housing association where she held several management positions.
In 1998 Christine returned to West Yorkshire and took up the post of Director of Housing at West Yorkshire Housing Association. Christine is currently the Director of Neighbourly Places at Connect and is responsible for Lettings & Leasehold Management, Income Collection, Neighbourhood Teams and Supported Housing.
