What is Domestic Violence?

As estimates from the British Crime Survey show that one in four women will experience some form of domestic violence at some point in their lives - it could be affecting you or someone you know right now!

It is also being increasingly recognised that men can experience domestic violence - the government says that about one in five reported cases are from men.

Behaviour doesn't have to be physically violent to count as domestic violence - verbal abuse and threats, checking-up on you (monitoring your phone calls, telling you where you can or can't go, opening your mail without your permission etc), and forcing you to do things you don't want to are all examples of other forms of domestic abuse.
