For Families

Mum and Daughter

We have many ways to support families who may be struggling for a number of reasons.

We can help support parents - you'll find more information in our Support for Children| and in our Support for Children & Young People inside our "community|" section.

We can support families in their homes to manage their tenancies. Our support workers can provide support for the family to enable them to live successfully in the community. For example, grants for furniture, access to schools.

We can also offer assistance in managing finances and tackling debt. Click here to find out more to move to our "How Do I Deal with Debt" page.|

If, for whatever reason, you need temporary accommodation, we also have a number of services which can help.

North Kirklees Women’s Refuge (NKWR) NKWR provides temporary accommodation and support for women and children fleeing domestic violence. The main aim is to enable families to obtain appropriate re-housing, with ongoing support where it is needed.

Nowell Court Project

This Leeds-based service provides temporary accommodation and support for homeless families. The aim is to help families move to permanent, secure and independent accommodation.

The project offers two types of accommodation:

  • 22 flats which can accommodate homeless pregnant women or women with children.
  • 15 houses dispersed in the community that can accommodate homeless families, including men.
