Energy Efficiency

Whether you want to look at energy efficiency because you want to be more environmentally friendly and hope to reduce your carbon footprint, or whether you just  want to save money, there are many ways that you can be more efficient at very low or no cost.

  • Check that the heating thermostat is not set too high (20ºC in the living room is suggested).
  • Make sure your hot water is not too hot (60ºC is suggested).
  • Fit low energy light bulbs (we sometimes have some free in our reception or at tenants’ meetings).
  • Turn off your lights and domestic appliances when not needed.
  • Do not leave TVs and videos on stand-by.
  • Do not overfill kettles and saucepans, and always cook with lids.
  • Buy A-rated kitchen appliances.

Doing these simple things will save you money, and help to save the planet!

Have a look at our How Do I Go Green| page for more information, and links to some websites for further reading about energy efficiency.
