Opportunity for an Independent I.T implementation Project Board Member

Title: Independent I.T implementation Project Board Member (Critical Friend)
Remuneration: £37 per hour plus travel expenses if required.
Hours: Variable but approx. 7 hours per month
Duration: 18 months
Location: Based in West Yorkshire but mostly managed remotely.

Role description:

Connect Housing has commenced a major I.T implementation project, replacing all key operational software with a new, integrated product. We are following Prince 2 methodology and are currently at Project Initiation stage. We have created a project Board to oversee the process and are looking for an independent Critical Friend to join that Board.

The Project Board is responsible for the overall direction and management of the project. It is ultimately responsible for assurance that the project remains on course to deliver the desired outcome, and to the required quality. It will convene at the end of agreed stages and at key milestones, usually at least once every 4–6 weeks and is responsible for:

  • Championing the project;
  • Approval of scope and any material changes to it;
  • Approval of the Project Plan and milestones and any material changes to it;

We are looking for a Project Board member with significant experience of delivering strategic I.T projects, and with knowledge and skills in project management, IT, data and IT Infrastructure, to support the project Board in applying the appropriate challenge and control to the project implementation team and contractor.  Someone who also understands the ‘not-for-profit’ sector ethos would be particularly welcome.

Support to the Board can be carried out remotely, although there may be occasions when it would be desirable to meet in person; these are anticipated to be the exception rather than the rule.

If you are interested, please submit your CV to Louise Handley at louise.handley@connecthousing.org.uk by Friday 22nd February 2019. We will respond during the week commencing 25th February 2019.

If you would like any clarification, please contact Louise either on the above email address, or at 0300 5000 600.
