Passion 4 Fashion Kirklees was a fantastic local project aimed at unemployed people who have an interest in fashion and needed some experience. The target was to build confidence, skills and help participants move into employment. Up to 50 participants took part in a series of workshops across Kirklees, working with designers providing expert tuition/coaching encouraged to design and create their catwalk outfit exclusively recycled from charity shops on a budget and then showcased their designs at a big fashion show at the
Huddersfield Town Hall on
Thursday 26 April 2012.
The fashion show was a big event which gave the participants a chance to display their outfits on a glamorous catwalk along side some great entertainment and some very special guests including the Lord Mayor.
There was lots of financial support, professional designers and advisers on hand to help build skills, confidence and try to break down any barrier that may be preventing the participants from becoming employed. Some of the benefits to completing this project is work experience, references, team work skills, communication, budgeting skills and expanding creativity, which all make great additions to a CV and portfolio. You never know, we could have Britain’s next top designer amongst our participants!
