Talk about fancy dress!
The COPS (Connect Older People’s Strategists) group hosted The International Day of Older People on October 7th 2010 at Hawthorn Mill Sheltered Housing. There was a total of 63 tenants and staff who spent the day with us. Some of the attendees came in International theme of fancy dress. The day was packed with Flags of the World Quiz, Limerick writing, Ten Pin Bowling on the Wii, raffles, manicures, and the buffet was also themed around food from all over the world.
The purpose of the event was to celebrate the work of our older volunteers. Thanks were given to the valuable work the COPS group does on behalf of all older people who live in Connect properties. Thanks also to the officers from the CRF who were applauded on behalf of Connect tenants for their ongoing dedication to the posts they hold, and to all the older people who give their time freely to sit on tenant groups, and to those people who help and assist others... you are all stars!
The event was attended by Rachel Reeves MP and the local PCSOs popped in for a cuppa and a chat. An information stall about Financial Inclusion was provided by Kim Long, and Jade Senior made stress balls, but I can assure you there was no stress on the day! Lisa Longbottom & Barbara Kempf made smoothies. Mmmmmmm – they were delicious!
