In a first for Connect and the city of Leeds, we are excited to be building ten new super energy-efficient houses for low rent in East Leeds.
We are building the homes to the Passivhaus Low Energy Building Standard. Which means they will be highly insulated and airtight with a whole-house energy efficient ventilation system. The homes will have solar panels with battery storage and an intelligent heating system. All of this will deliver lower bills for residents with energy use for a typical household expected to be in the region of £200* per year.
About the homes
Location: These new homes will be located on Boggart Hill Road in north Seacroft, close to Roundhay Park, local schools and regular bus routes into Leeds.
Size: These are two-bedroom properties, suitable for a small family. There will be 10 properties in total.
When: These new homes will be ready for occupation in November 2017.
Specification: These homes are so well insulated and draught-free they behave in a different way to a regular house. We have already worked with residents to help them get the best out of their new home and taught them the dos and don’ts of living in a low carbon property. For instance, although we welcome family pets, cat flaps aren’t allowed in these homes, sorry!
The application process to live in these homes has now finished. All of the homes have been allocated.
The houses are coming along nicely!
