Describe the job areas you currently work in:
I currently work in the Further Education Sector in Leeds managing Equality, Inclusion and Safeguarding. I also work as a Director of a Flat Management Company doing facilities management work. In addition to this; I’m also working to create a charity called the ‘Straw Lodge’; which will help support adults who are experiencing suicidal crisis.
Describe the experience/qualifications you have:
I am graduate and Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and I’m also a qualified teacher (QTLS). I also have a NEBOSH Certificate in Health and safety - Construction Management.
I have worked in the Further Education sector for over 13 years and previous to that I have worked as a Youth Justice Officer and also a Youth and Development Worker for Leeds City Council.
I also work as a consultant to provide specialist human resource management, facilities management and Health and Safety compliance advice to a range of private, public and third sector organisations.
Describe the strengths you feel you bring to the Board:
Apart from my professional experience, I have a personal commitment to work towards a society that promotes fairness and equality of opportunity. My experience of working with the housing sector, employers and education providers will help me to ensure that the Connect Housing creates opportunities and engages with the local community to meet their needs.
